I have enjoyed working in acrylics after switching from oils.
Influenced, from having some years in the tropics, I have found particular inspiration in colour and light effects.
Working on a small scale developed first from painting postcards while on holiday, to send to friends. Then I found that there was an interest in the small scale in itself. Once the initial composition was planned, there was a fascination in developing a sense of depth and space in a small area.

I enjoy working in acrylics on a small scale, aiming to get the effect of light, space and atmosphere. The way acrylic paint can be built up gives the opportunity to overlap colours and tones to have the feel of layers of space. The block canvases allow for the main part of the painting to extend over the sides, which gives an added interest when planning the composition.
