My paintings represent a world of textures, patterns and colours, as well as presenting a combination of natural and man made objects. I use acrylic paints for their fantastic coverage and beautiful, brilliant vivid colours. I paint on a variety of grounds, such as canvas, board and paper. The versatility of acrylic paints allows me to be as precise and detailed or as bold and free as I like to be. I work on board or canvas primed with one or two coats of white gesso, and finish my work with one or two coats of acrylic matt varnish to even out the texture and to protect it from environmental elements such as dust and sunlight. I was introduced to acrylic paints almost 12 years ago and have been using them since.
I was amazed by the beauty of roses growing in our village. They were like jewels glistening in the sun, their vibrant colours, their delicate petals and dark green leaves looked superb. They were dancing in the breeze, casting shadows on the grass. They were just perfect and inspired the pictures I exhibited with NAPA in 2008 at Obsidian Art in Buckinghamshire.
I tried to capture their painterly beauty in acrylic paintings, their gentle movements and their delicacy.
